Alternative Fuels
In this area, we are working with vehicle and equipment manufacturers on their plans for battery and hydrogen-powered solutions – with the goal in mind to remove the use of fossil fuels, which in turn would significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
In the short term, we are utilising Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), which is reported to save up to 90% of CO2 in its manufacturing process.
Our HVO fuel is supplied by Certas Energy, and you can find out more about their sustainability efforts at – HVO Fuel Supplier | Renewable Diesel | Certas Energy
You may have seen our bee-autiful new truck on the road, with the milestone feature of running exclusively on HVO fuel.
Why use Certas Energy HVO instead of regular diesel?
- Longer shelf life
- Low temperature performance CFPP to -30 degrees
- 100% biodegradable
- Fossil/FAME free and odourless
- Improved combustion over some diesel alternatives
The BCD Logistics executive team is responsible for this policy and its implementation. We are dedicated to providing the relevant resource, reviewing this policy on a two-yearly basis and communicating plans within the organisation, in addition to external interested parties.
